How it all Started:

Inflight Kennels began as the dream of a 12 year old. Our first Registered German Shepherd Dog, Eagle at Baldwin, was a blending between German and American lines. I received a book written by W. Goldbecker and E. Hart as a gift shortly after Eagle was purchased. I read the book so often, that the binding quickly fell apart. It was quickly apparent in my mind that I wanted to always be involved with German Shepherd Dogs. Through my studies (by this time I had gone through another book) I learned a little, but my need for knowledge steadily grew. I dragged my Mom to and attended numerous conformation and obedience classes and sanction matches.

In 1985, at 19 years old, I bought a male Omar, as for my first show dog, from a well known & respected breeder. Although this animal did not end up not being a show quality dog, a lot of hard work, sheer determination and good luck brought forth some minor successes in the conformation ring. The hook was sunk for not only myself but our whole family and we have been in this "dog game" ever since.

In 1986, I applied for the kennel name, Inflight”. The name came about because in my mind, the description of a good moving animal, from the German Shepherd Dog Standard, would have the animal “Inflight” while gaiting.

Our Philosophy:

So that we can give all our animals the proper attention they require and deserve, we average around 3-5 adults with youngsters we are raising to show. We are very selective in choosing our breeding partners and always think ahead of what to do with the next generation prior to breeding the litter. This we feel is very important, simply because a breeding should be something that adds a piece to the overall plan that will eventually, with a lot of hard work and luck, bring the goal of producing the Perfect German Shepherd Dog closer to fruition.

All our breeding stock must have the hard to acquire combination of physical and mental soundness, exceptional movement and beautiful breed type. These qualities are key for making the German Shepherd what it is renowned for.

  • Mental soundness is a priority at Inflight. A lot of care is put into raising our puppies to bring out the best temperaments possible. We start the process right from birth. Our motto: "If we can't live with them, we don't expect anyone else to.. and we are PICKY!" Intelligence is also a key to what makes the breed above other breeds. There is a saying, Once you've had a German Shepherd, you'll not want another Breed... We can only agree with this statement, as our dogs are HIGHLY intelligent, sound animals that bring us joy everyday.

  • Physical soundness is ESSENTIAL! We strive to maintain above average standards here. Seeing and hearing the horror stories of people getting unsound animals and not only having to live through the pain of watching their beloved companion suffer, but spending exorbitant amounts of their hard earned money on trying to ease the suffering keeps us clear on our objective of maintaining our goals for soundness.

  • Exceptional Movement & Beautiful Breed Type: After Physical and Mental Soundness in a German Shepherd Dog, these are the things that as conformation breeder we look for. There is nothing more beautiful and pleasing to the eye, than a well put together German Shepherd with beautiful breed type, gaiting or playing or just being a dog, they Are simply Gorgeous.

The above combined qualities have allowed our Breeding program to become one of the highest achieving kennels in North America. We are the first breeders in over 55 years to have back to back GSDCA National Best of Breed wins with 2 different animals. We take great pride in the fact that we have accomplished so much in the breed without sacrificing our principles of Quality first, not Quantity.

We breed only occasionally, averaging 1 litter a year or less. We grade those puppies starting from birth but place them in companion homes only after they have been vet checked and have learned to be dogs (after 10 weeks). We feel that purchasing a puppy or dog should not be a snap decision and are extremely selective to where our "babies" will end up. We like to know as much as possible about our puppy buyers, so don't be offended if you get the third degree. :o) All our companion animals are sold on spay/neuter contracts with AKC Limited Registration. Prices for Companion animals are $600-$700.00 + any necessary shipping charges.

We hold on to our show prospects longer to ensure that they are of exceptional quality prior to being placed in show homes. It is important to us that animals sold to show homes reflect the high quality standards we wish to maintain. It doesn't make any sense that we would sell a show puppy to someone and insist they show it if it was not of the quality typical of Inflight's Show dogs. Most of our show prospects are sold on co-ownership contracts. We do this for many reasons... mostly to help guide our "good one's" careers. Typical Prices for 4 month old show prospects start at $1,800.00. This lower price range is for a reason, we want our show people to have the funds to properly campaign their new INFLIGHT STAR.

Since we were helped out a lot in the beginnings of our breeding program, we are always happy to help those who are new to the breed. Please feel free to contact us with your questions about our dogs or this great breed!
