Reno Concert Review

It just keeps getting better and better....

1. Preshow and Sound Check: Liz and I left Newark NJ 9 PM Friday and arrived in Reno about 2 AM Saturday morning. After scoping out the Casino and other things, we finally went to bed about 4:30 AM. I noticed Posters all over the Casino, I wanted one. Saturday we picked up our tics at will-call and I questioned how I could get one of those Posters. The lady said "Come back at 7:30 PM and there will be someone here who could help you." Well...OK. We went into the hall during the Sound Check and who is there...Ralph and Wanda, this was shaping up to be another good one!! Liz and I also met Linda Sue and MAXimized Phyl. During the Sound Check, little pieces of the ceiling were falling down. Afterwards, I was talking to Mel about it and he said, yeah, that in these indoor venues, they sometimes blow out ceiling lights or cause small light fixtures to fall...Tim the sound guy from Detroit was mixing and the sound was SUPERB!! At 7:00 PM I noticed all the Posters in the Casino had disappeared. I went back and asked the Entertainment gal what was up with the Posters...she said "All Posters Have Been Spoken-for". Well..we shall see. Before the show we went to eat and who shows up but Donna and Allan W...it was really great to see them again.

2. The Show: The show itself was great. The sound fell off after about the third song. Afterwards, Tim the sound guy said the Casino made him turn it down, but he inched it back up during the show. Note from the set list that Mean Mistreater and Bad Time have been dropped. To tell you the truth, I never did care for either of those songs. They should put "Take Me" or a Bruce Kulick tune in at some point. The crowd of about 1600 was very much into the show. During Closer to Home, they rushed the stage. Bruces Star Spangled Banner was spectacular...the crowd went crazy.

Here's the set list:

Rock 'N' Roll Soul
Footstompin' Music
Walk Like A Man
Heartbreaker
Shinin' On
Second Chance
Locomotion
TNUC Drum Solo Rollin' Thunder (Percussion)
Star Spangled Banner (Featuring Bruce)
Inside Looking Out
One More River
Some Kind Of Wonderful
Closer To Home
We're An American Band
Rock N Roll Music (Encore)

3. After The Show: There was a small Meet and Greet after the show. I'm glad Maximized Phyl and her group of Max fans finally got to meet their idle. Dena, Mel, Don, Max, Tim and Bruce...you are all making so many people so very happy. Thank You.... We then hit the pub and hung with good friends until about 4:30 AM. Before I went up to my room, I took a walk around the Casino and ran into the only remaining poster... right on the Casino floor next to a BlackJack table. I approached the guard and asked him for the poster. He left and said he would be right back. He came back and said he could not give it to me, that I would have to see the entertainment person later in the day. I went to bed.

4. Operation "RASP": Sunday morning, while I was sleeping off the effects of the night before, Liz got up and decided to put into action what is now known as "Operation RASP"...Retrieve Allegedly Spoken-for Poster. She went down to the Casino and talked to 4 different people who said they could not help her. She then went to the ticket sales office who told her to call entertainment on the house phone, which she did, and they told her, " if there is one left, "It is Spoken-for". She then went to the ticket sales office again and some guy said..I think I just threw one of them out a while ago, so Liz goes down into the bowels of the Casino looking for the trash bin... her plan was to search the Casino trash...but when she got down there, the Casino trash guy said the trash was gone. She then went back up to the Poster location, and who walks by but the very tall,Casino official, Steven Seagal looking dude who was at the meet and greet the night before, so, my 4 foot 11.5 inch wife approaches this dude and tells him the story of the Poster quest....so he gives it to her. So in walks Liz into the Hotel room, I'm still in bed, the lights go on, I open my eyes, and the Poster approaches me like a vision....Operation RASP was successful, and I truly do love my little wife.
