History
Eden Aoba Taiko was formed in 1997 to promote Japanese music art of Taiko drumming to Community members   in the area under the direction of Masa.  The group started with 6 people and members increased to 50 by the end of '97.  Members' age ranges from 6 year-old to 70 up.  It is our philosophy that Taiko is for everyone, no matter how old you are.  Our Taiko is folk music.  Main purpose is to have a fun drumming and enhances self-expression, self-esteem, and self-confidence.  It is also our goal to enrich disciplines such as respect,  harmony, and unity through drumming with others.
Learning taiko takes a time.  There is no short cuts or  simply ways.  It is like a life;  up and down,  bents and straights.  It requires a patience.
Taiko is a mental training with physical strrength.  As long as you practice, you will get better and then comes fun.

Our equipments(Taikos, big and small and accessories) are made by ourselves.  So far we have made 20 taikos  including small taikos.    Our largest taiko is 32" diameter made  out of a 80 gallon wine barrel.  Also, we have purchased 4 shime taikos, 5 Okedo taikos, 3 Uchiwa taikos, 2 Atariganes, and 1 Chappa from Japan.

Performances:    performances are opportunities to show what you have learned to the people.  It is opportunities to test yourself.
It is a quite different feelings to drum a taiko on a stage and in front of many people than practices.
